Skills You’ll Need For An Online Business
These days most folks have a pretty good knowledge of computers and software.
Even so, I thought it would be a good idea to list the crucial skills you’ll need if you’re planning on doing everything yourself:
- How to use Search Engines like Google efficiently and how to use their marketing tools like the keyword tool, analytic’s tool and other webmaster tools.
- How to research for lucrative markets and keywords.
- How to set up an autoresponder at services like Aweber or GetResponse.
- How to register a domain name and setup nameservers at services like Namecheap.
- How to open an account at an Hosting Service like Hostgator with a Cpanel user interface and learn how to setup add-on domains, email accounts, and install Wordpress, etc.
- How to use Wordpress efficiently so you can post content, images, video and more.
- How to write effective sales letters, emails, scripts, reports and articles or outsource this work to freelancers.
- How to drive traffic using articles, forum posting, blog posting, press releases, video marketing, banner advertising, pay-per-click and more.
- How to set up a Paypal, Clickbank or 1Shoppingcart account so you can receive payments online.
- How to create graphics for your websites and products or hire freelancers.
- How to setup and use accounts with affiliate advertising networks like Commission Junction, Hydra Network, Share-a-Sale and others.
- How to contact potential joint venture partners and set up lucrative deals with them.
- How to use social networking programs to drive traffic.
- How to handle support either through email or a ticket system.
- How to create valuable products and content or outsource the work.
- How to effectively manage your time to be the most productive.
Seems like a lot of stuff, doesn’t it? Well don’t worry too much because most of this stuff can be learned fairly quickly and you’ll be speeding through it all in no time.
Besides, I’ll be showing you how to do all of this stuff anyway in the coming weeks.:-)
Some of the stuff on this list may not be your cup of tea, so you’ll just have to outsource the work. That’s not a big deal any more with all the freelance sites. I’ll be going over that too…
One last thing, learning just the basics in all these areas will help you down the road if you intend to hire help or outsource. You’ll know what it takes to do the work and what to expect. You’ll laugh at the jokers who say it’ll cost $2,000 to set up a blog or other similar overcharging. You’ll be in a position of knowledge and will avoid getting ripped off!
Onward…
